To absorb and disperse stress, prevent and inhibit the generation of longitudinal cracks, and reduce the semi-rigid base layer due to temperature changes, or as a bonding stress absorbing layer between the old asphalt surface layer and the newly paved asphalt pavement or between the new subgrade base and the asphalt surface layer.
